The Ship-from StoreClosed A fulfillment process in which orders are shipped from a retail store rather than a warehouse or distribution center. Also called SFS. (SFSClosed Ship-from Store.) workflow enables you, the Store Associate, to pick an order from store inventory and pack it for shipment to the customer.

Retailers implement SFS for their online orders for several reasons:

  • Increases revenue by enabling retailers to avoid out-of-stock situations at warehouses
  • Increases margins on end-of-year merchandise because store inventory can still be sold at full price
  • Decreases shipping time and expense because orders can be shipped from stores that are closer to the customer than the warehouse.

This workflow comprises the pick process and the pack process. The following sections are overviews of the processes. For details, click the Related Topics links to see the applicable topics.
